Inspired by vintage, I believe that if we mix classic styles and current trends we can create something lovely and timeless.
Here are a few of the women I have found inspirational old and new:
Audrey Hepburn- She is herself; feminine, strong, funny (not ostentatious funny but smart cute funny). She had a way of bringing personality and grace to all her characters almost as if they were actual people. I think the most difficult thing with acting is to make the audience connect with the character and see part of themselves in the character.
I have a book about Audrey; it talks about her life and her way of dealing with things. She was super down to earth, true to herself and wasn't afraid of loving people. She was married a few times and had some devastating heart breaks like many of us (she is easy to relate to). I think we sometimes see movie starts or beautiful people and just assume that their lives must be easy. Audrey wanted more than anything to be a mother, but she had a hard time getting pregnant; she was madly in love with her second husband, but he had a hard time being faithful to her; when she was young her father abandoned the family... There are more things too. Knowing more about her makes me think "Wow, she was lovely and stayed lovely despite it all."
My favorite quotes from her:
Grace Kelly- The New York girl who became the Queen of Monacco! She is the classic American beauty; blonde, fair skinned, blue eyed and lean. In reading up on her she didn't have the huge struggles that Audrey had but she was turned away from college due to her low math scores (Im sure that was difficult). What I like most about her was that she was loved by everyone who worked with her, she was know as kind and giving. When people look back at me I hope they think the same thing.
When asked who was his all time favorite leading lady Kerry Grant said:

Jennifer Anniston- Jen has amazing hair, it's the hair that I would love to have! I have gone to almost every stylist in Utah with this picture begging them to match the color.
Not only does Jen have great hair, but she stays in shape too! Palates does her body good. So now I crush over her amazing hair and sweat and streach to get her fab arms and legs.
Her makeup... love, love, love it! It's golden, natural and super soft.
Jen is in her 40's and looks 30, not only that, but I swear she is looking better as she ages.
I think that alone makes her STYLE ICON worthy.

"Well, with all due respect to dear Ingrid Bergman, I much preferred Grace. She had serenity."
James Stewart Said: "You know, I just love Grace Kelly. Not because she was a princess, not because she was an actress, not because she was my friend, but because she was just about the nicest lady I ever met. Grace brought into my life as she brought into yours, a soft, warm light every time I saw her, and every time I saw her was a holiday of its own." |
